Multi grain Cookies/ Sathumaavu Cookies

 Multi-grain cookies-Sathumaavu cookies


Ingredients needed:-

Whole wheat flour-1 cup

Multi-grain flour/ Sathumaavu flour-1/2 cup

Palm/ cane sugar-3/4 cup

Milk -5tbsp

Baking powder-1/2 tsp

Salt -a pinch

Butter/ghee-1/2 cup

Almonds/cashews - for garnish on the cookies


Procedure:-

* Measure and keep all the ingredients ready.

* Combine wheat flour and Sathumaavu flour ,salt and baking powder in a bowl and mix gently and keep aside.

* In a mixing bowl,add the measured ghee/butter and palm/cane sugar and beat well until it is creamy texture.

* You can use an electric blender or a hand whisk, if you don't have an electric blender.

* Add the flour mixture to the ghee/ butter mixture & beat in low speed.The dough will now be ready.

* Add 3 tbsp of milk first and mix gently to form a smooth dough.Do not over mix.If the dough is still dry add one or two tbsp of milk.Do not add the milk altogether.

* Add slowly & check for the dough consistency.The dough should not be runny.Do not over mix the dough.Once the dough has reached the desired consistency, keep aside.

* Pre heat the oven at 180°c for about 10 minutes.

* In a cookie tray ,place a sheet of baking paper/ butter sheet.

* Take a small quantity of the dough and roll it in your palm and gently flatten.

* Place the cookies on the prapared cookie tray by leaving a one inch gap to each cookies. Place one whole almond/ cashew on each cookies.

* Bake in preheated oven at 180°c for about 13-15 minutes or until the edges of the cookies turn golden brown.

* Let the cookies come to room temperature & then serve.


Note:-

* Very hot cookies will taste under cooked.

* After 10 mins from taking out of the oven, the cookies can be enjoyed with milk , tea or coffee.

* You can pack these cookies for your kids snack box too.

* Each and every ingredients is healthy.

* A perfect tea time snack for all age groups.

* These cookies stay fresh for one week in room temperature.
