 Karpooravalli leaf chutney/ Omavalli leaf chutney/Ajwain chutney :


Karpuravalli leaf is also called as Indian Borage in English and Karpooravall,i Omavalli, Doddapatre and Panikoora in other Indian languages is a very important herb,that has wonderful Medicinal uses & health benifits.

Karpuravalli Benefits:-

-- Treating hair problems like,grey hair,dandruff,aiding weight loss for promoting hair growth.
-- Treating asthma and fever.

Preparation time- 5mins

Cooking time-10 mins 

Ingredients to make karpuravalli leaf chutney:-

Karpuravalli leaf- 10 

Coconut- 1/2 cup

Green chillies-3 to 4

Roasted channa dal ( udaitha kadalai or pottu kadalai)-1/2 cup

Salt - to taste

Ginger- 1/2 inch 

To Temper the Ajwain chutney:- 

Urad dal -2tbsp

Mustard seeds-1tsp

Red chillies- 2-3 

Oil -1 tsp

Curry leaves-few

Procedure to make Omavalli leaf chutney:-

* Pick the Omavalli leaves from the plant and remove and thick stems in them.

* Clean the leaves and keep it aside.

* Take a blender, Add  karpuravalli leaf,green chillies, coconut pieces,salt, ginger and roasted channa dal.

* Add little water.

* Blend well.

* Heat a small pan and heat 1tsp oil,add the tempering ingredients and let it fry.

* Add the tempering to the ground chutney and mix well.

* Serve with Idli or Dosa.
